Bridging the Digital Divide
WinstonNet, Inc. is a non-profit community technology initiative established with the goal of "bridging the digital divide" by providing community computer access in recreation centers and churches and preparing the workforce for the next generation of network‑based super computing technologies.
Striving to be a prototype for the nation, WinstonNet is employing cutting edge technology throughout Forsyth County to set the standard for ubiquitous computing for the nation.

WinstonNet Inc. has secured a $926,537 federal broadband recovery grant to provide new equipment for existing facilities, better serve the Hispanic population, open new labs in low-income areas, and expand training and educational resources.
The federal grant will be matched with $532,711 in cash and $163,500 in in-kind contributions from WinstonNet and its member agencies, said John Boehme, the president of WinstonNet and also the director of technical resources for education and research administrative systems at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
